Welcome to the Old Inn

The Old Inn, a small restaurant with rooms run by Duncan Walker and Anthea Christmas, has been awarded for 2013 - 2016; 3 'AA Rosettes for Culinary Excellence', 'Top Marks' (score 1) from the Hardens Restaurant Guide, a 3 in the Good Food Guide and is recommended by the Michelin Guide.

Duncan became captivated by the beauty of Dartmoor and its surroundings when he  moved from the North East 25 years ago to work at Gidleigh Park with Shaun Hill and subsequently chef/patron of 22 Mill Street for 10 years until he sold in 2007.

We offer a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere with dishes that Duncan has pilfered and adapted from the various places he has worked in the South West!

Please see here for a sample menu – please note this is a sample menu and is often changed depending on what is available from his local suppliers and what he feels like cooking.

Both the restaurant and the rooms are run on a very informal basis to provide a stress-free, homely, sociable and joyful stay whether over night or for the evening.

Normally we are open Wednesday to Saturday evenings and Friday and Saturday lunchtimes, however, we are happy to accommodate tables for 6 – 10 at other times by arrangement.

Please phone for availability as our dining space is limited. 01647 281276

Cooking demonstration lunches are also taking place , please phone or email for details, dates and further information.

All in all an outstanding combination - exceptional food and wine, relaxing surroundings and charming location - we will definitely be returning."
